A Day of Great Pain

A Day of Great Pain

Nearly 3000 lives were taken away as needless as it could be,

Deafening sounds and confusion mixed with fire and ash as far as the eye could see.

September 11th, 2001 is a day we all remember as it’s forever etched in our brains, We remember exactly where we were and what we were doing that horrific day filled with pain.

We take time today to think about those affected and those who lost loved ones that day, For some of us, we feel that the only way we can help now is to simply take time and pray.

There were so many heroes in that building we will never know and their stories we can never tell,

However, there are many that we do know their names who lost their lives as well.

There are those who also left family and friends, but a great difference in all the rest, They had a choice to give their lives to save others and so they went to give their very best.

They were the ones running in as others ran out doing the opposites of what our brains tell us is right,

They chose to save even one to join those who didn’t come home that night.

As we spend this day thinking and grieving about the events of that day,

Let us mourn with the broken and show honor to our heroes, even the ones still here today.

Remember those who defend our country and our city streets and those who fight fires so we may live,

Give of your honor and respect and surely your prayers, be there for their families, and anything else you can give.
